JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for assisting the Director in providing technical and managerial leadership in the delivery of Pathology and Laboratory Services.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Coordinating the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of National Pathology and Laboratory Service policies, strategies, goals and objectives; and periodically
  2. Coordinating disease outbreak investigation and undertaking routine disease surveillance.
  • Providing administrative support and professional advice on Pathology and Laboratory Services in the country

  • Analysing laboratory data and produce periodic reports to inform policy.

  3. Leading in the establishment and monitoring of Biosafety and Biosecurity systems.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • MBChB, Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology/Science or equivalent
  • Master’s Degree in Pathology or a Clinical Laboratory discipline is a must
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience, four (4) of which should be at management level
  • Registration with a professional body

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible and accountable for the national pharmaceutical services and operations in the Ministry.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Spearheading the formulation, review and implementation of pharmaceutical policies and regulations to guide public and private sectors.
  1. Coordinating the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of national pharmaceutical service policies, strategies, goals and objectives; and to periodically review the relevance and adequacy of the same and take appropriate actions as necessary.
  2. Formulating and implementing protocols and standards as guides and initiate periodic review of the same as necessary.
  3. Monitoring adherence to the National Medicines Policy, the revision of EDLIZ as appropriate and adherence to guidelines for donations of medicines
  4. Evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery methods and procedures and take appropriate action.

  6. Coordinate the quantification of national essential medicines and medical supplies

  10. Managing and maintaining a medicines surveillance system in conjunction with the health information system.

  12. Ensuring inter-departmental collaboration and effective contribution to regional and international organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Pharmacy/ Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent

  • A minimum of 6 years of progressive Pharmacy working experience preferably encompassing administration in health services, two (2) years of which should be at Deputy Director level preferably in the health/ public service

QUALIFICATIONS

JOB PURPOSE

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Responsible for provision of clinical services in the district.
  2. Ensures that professional standards are maintained in the provision of clinical services.
  3. Initiates strategies to improve quality by promoting medical and clinical audits in health institutions in the district and encourages the development of evidence based clinical practice and research.
  4. Promotes a positive image for the hospital with the media or general public where clinical matters are concerned.
  5. Performs a number of medico-legal examinations for the police and to give evidence in courts of law as required.

  2. Formulates and executes short and long term policies for the hospital in line with guidelines provided by the Provincial Medical Director.
  3. Monitors and evaluates services provided by the hospital regularly.
  4. Ensures cost effective and efficient use of all resources in the hospital and its satellite stations.
  5. Ensures effective management of clinical services and non-clinical support services.
  6. Effects sound human resources management and development i.e. ensure staff performance appraisals are done, identify staff development needs and training programmes etc.
  7. In consultation with the Provincial Medical Director ensures that Ministry of Health and Child Care and provincial health policies are adhered to.
  8. Performs clinical duties when necessary.
  9. Convenes medical boards required for civil servants and any other category of patients as agreed with Provincial Medical Director.

 QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

  1. MBChB or equivalent
  2. Post graduate qualification in public health or equivalent at Masters level.
  3. At least two years’ experience at a grade immediately below the Medical Superintendent grade.
  4. Registration with Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe
  5. Good communication, report writing and presentation skills
  6. Computer literacy
  7. Management training
